Carlos Sainz says he cannot spend his whole life waiting for Red Bull to promote him into the senior team. The Spaniard agreed a new contract earlier this year which will see him remain at Toro Rosso in 2017, while Red Bull have both Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen tied down to deals that run up until the end of 2018. Although Red Bull remains the target for Sainz, he admits he may have to look elsewhere to further his Formula One career if the senior team is not prepared to offer him a drive in two years.Unfortunately for me they look pretty happy with the pair they have, Sainz said. Obviously its good to have a third driver like me waiting there in case something happens, but I cannot spend my whole life being the just in case option for Red Bull. They understand this and Im convinced they know -- thats why next year is an important year for me to hopefully create a good base and move up if Red Bull is willing to take me. Obviously it would be a great pleasure, if not Im sure they will understand I cannot spend my life being the third one.Red Bull has the option to extend Sainz contract beyond next season, however Sainz expects he will have some say on his future and does not think Red Bull would try to stop him from leaving if another option became available to him.It depends obviously on them if they want to exercise that option but it will also depend on me if I also want to do another year in Toro Rosso, he said. At the end they perfectly understand I have high targets, important targets in my mind for 2018 and it will be discussed.Red Bull is tough but they normally are fair. So Im pretty sure Red Bull would, unless they said they really, really need me for a Red Bull seat, which I would be very happy with, Im convinced they would be fair enough to find a solution. The Spaniard added: Like everything in life, like every contract in every Formula One driver, yes they have an option obviously they can execute whenever they want but I will play an important role and will also decide it, it will not all be about them.Sainz, who currently sits 12th in the driver standings having scored 30 points so far in 2016, hopes that Toro Rosso can provide a competitive package next year for him to be able to score strong results in order to impress Red Bull.I am pushing them, we are pushing all together, because I really want to have a competitive car next year with a competitive package, a competitive power unit, to be able to do some strong races and strong results, to be able to give first of all Red Bull a good image. I think its also good for Red Bull if Toro Rosso is higher up the grid than we are at the moment and to be able to be that fifth team.We believe we have a car that could have been able to do it this year but not the package, we will be able to have the package to be ready to fight for points next year in all races and through the whole year. A lot of people will be looking to take a step up and I would like to be at the top of that list. Air Max 270 React Bleu . Here are his mid-season NBA awards. The 26-year-old Ireland striker, who has four goals this season, has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with his new club. Team GBs women came to Rio with medal aspirations but return home having finished fourth in the sevens at the 2016 Olympics. It wasnt for a lack of heart but at key moments their discipline was found wanting as they fell in the bronze medal match to Canada. For so long it looked like Team GB were going to be genuine contenders to make the final. They breezed through their group with three wins from three -- including a 22-0 triumph over Canada -- then made light work of Fiji in the quarterfinals only to run into the Portia Woodman-inspired New Zealand.Reduced to five players at half-time with Katy McLean shown yellow for pulling back the Woodman as she attempted to sprint clear and Amy Wilson Hardy then sin-binned, perhaps harshly, for catching Ruby Tui in the air it just gave them too much to do. In the end the Woodman-inspired Black Ferns cutting edge proved too much as they closed out a 25-7 triumph. Then Canada shut them out 33-10 in the bronze medal match - captain Emily Scarratt was sin-binned for a knock on - to leave the squad devastated. It wasnt in the script. With a host of World Cup-winners in their ranks, they would have fancied their chances of taking away gold -- that was certainly the pre-Games message from coach Simon Middleton. But in the end theyll be left pondering those horrible what ifs.We couldnt really live with the pace, and we hurt ourselves with a few of the things that we did, Middleton said. There are a lot of young players in there, and hopefully we will get another shot at the Olympics next time around, and we will be better for it.Looking back over the three days there are plenty of positives to take from their performances: Scarratt was imperious under the high ball, Jo Watmore, their player of the Games, played brilliantly in getting her siix tries while the experience from the tournament will put them in good stead heading forward.ddddddddddddBut will come as no immediate consolation.I just feel empty, Team GBs Heather Fisher said. We werent the best team. We set out for gold, lost to New Zealand and then had to focus on bronze and left ourselves too much to do at half-time. You dont go on the pitch to lose, you go on the pitch to give your absolute all to win. You hope that when you turn up you will do what you have worked for your whole life. New Zealand were the better team in the first game but we didnt show up against Canada.Despite their disappointment at how they fared in Rio, there are reasons for real optimism for the womens sport in Britain. The Rugby Football Union will be awarding 48 contracts with 16 full-time for the 2016-17 season with a focus on 15s with England heading to next summers World Cup as defending champions. At grassroots level, the number of women playing the game is rising year-on-year with over 18,000 currently playing the sport with a programme launched in 2014 to take the game to 100,000 new players.Wales showed signs of improvement in the previous Six Nations, had Jasmine Joyce in the GB squad and now have the hugely experienced Rowland Phillips in charge of the national 15s side. And Scottish Rugby are hoping to double the number of women and girls playing the game in their part of the world by 2020.Its all positive for the womens sport. Those who made the long trip to the Deodoro Stadium or watched it from afar wouldve seen GB play with heart, make gainline-breaking runs and create stunning tries but in the end, it was not enough for a medal.
