NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints havent worked out a long-term contract with Drew Brees yet. But they did lock up one of their most critical offensive players Thursday, agreeing to a multiyear extension with center Max Unger, a source confirmed to ESPN.The deal is worth more than $7 million per year, according to NOLA.com, which was first to report the extension.Unger, like Brees, was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season.The deal was probably in the works regardless, but the Saints needed to free up some salary-cap space after signing free agent Paul Kruger earlier this week.Unger, 30, has been a terrific addition since coming to New Orleans last year in the Jimmy Graham trade with the Seattle Seahawks. Unger didnt make his third Pro Bowl, but the coaching staff named him the Saints 2015 offensive MVP.
