This story appears in ESPN The Magazines August 22 College Football Preview Issue. Subscribe today! On a late-June morning, Oregon Ducks junior wide receiver Devon Allen practices his starts in the 110-meter hurdles at Hayward Field. In two weeks, on July 9, he will take his mark on the same starting line when Oregon hosts the U.S. Olympic track and field trials. On that day, to become one of the few active college football players ever to make an Olympic team, hell have to beat some serious competition in Aries Merritt and Jason Richardson, the 2012 gold and silver medalists. You cant be starstruck when you run against them, Allen says. Hopefully theyre worried about me too. If he makes the team, Allen will face a tough decision: Play with the Ducks or go pro in track post-Rio. But Allen isnt one to get ahead of himself, and The Mag is there as he approaches his first hurdle-: earning a ticket to Brazil.Double teamHis football teammates say hes a track star who plays football, but Allen insists hes a two-sport athlete who isnt ready to sacrifice one for the other. After winning his first U.S. outdoor title in the 110-meter hurdles in 2014, Allen led Ducks receivers with seven TD catches as a redshirt freshman before tearing his ACL at the 2015 Rose Bowl. It took me 12 months to feel 100 percent and confident again, Allen says, crediting his football training with helping his track. We train for explosiveness and strength, and that plays into hurdling. With the trials only two weeks away, Allen refuses to allow fear of injury to keep him off the gridiron. You can get hurt doing anything. These guys come to my track meets, and I like to be around the team. Besides, he adds, after the injury, I got faster.Running homeOver the past two weeks, Haywards green-and-yellow decor has given way to red, white and blue. I practice here every day, Allen says. Its a definite advantage. At the July 9 final, the crowd offers Allen deafening support during his strong start; with three hurdles to go, he is even with the other leaders. Thats when I knew, he says. My last hurdles are really strong. As he crosses the line in a personal-best 13.03, Allen realizes he has booked his trip to Rio de Janeiro, where he will be favored to medal on Aug. 15. He bolts toward the crowd and leaps into the stands, where Ducks right guard Cameron Hunt hugs him and points him toward his family, uniformed in Team Allen T-shirts. Afterward, Allen says it all feels surreal. I knew I could run that time. I knew it was in there. [But] it still hasnt set in. Grant Hill Jersey .ca! Hi Kerry, Heres an interesting one. I know its common knowledge that all players are responsible for their sticks. We witnessed that when Zack Kassian hit Edmontons Sam Gagner in the face after a missed check. Tayshaun Prince Jersey . The 20-year-old Pelicans big man glanced up and smiled widely at the well-wishers -- a fitting end to a day he wont soon forget. Davis responded to his selection earlier in the day as a Western Conference All-Star with 26 points and 10 rebounds, and the New Orleans Pelicans overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 98-91 on Friday night. https://www.cheappistonsonline.com/126y-andy-phillip-jersey-pistons.html . -- Adam Snyder returned to the San Francisco 49ers this season because the offensive lineman thought it was his best opportunity to win a championship. George Yardley Jersey . Halladay signed a one-day contract with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday that allowed the veteran right-hander to retire as a member of team with which he broke into the majors and spent the bulk of his distinguished 16-year career. Terry Tyler Jersey . After a lengthy wait, persistent rain finally forced the postponement of the Nationals game against the Miami Marlins on Saturday night. The teams, and a few thousand fans, waited nearly four hours from the 7:05 scheduled start time before an announcement was made shortly before 11 p. LONDON -- John McEnroe will have a slightly different role when he takes his place in the ESPN booth for Sundays Wimbledon final.Instead of being his usual outspoken, unbiased self calling the shots for TV on Centre Court, the American tennis great will be acting as a third wheel giving insight into Milos Raonics game because he is now part of the Canadian players coaching team.Im not trying to put him in a box ... and have him be an objective observer of the match and wear two hats, said Jamie Reynolds, an ESPN vice president overseeing coverage of the tennis tournament. Im having him here as Milos coach.Reynolds said the network will have Chris Fowler and Patrick McEnroe in the booth alongside the three-time Wimbledon champion.Raonic, who beat Roger Federer in the semifinals, will face Andy Murray in Sundays final. It will be the first major final for a man representing Canada.McEnroe called Raonics win over seven-time champion Federer on Friday for his other employer, the BBC. After that match, Raonic saiid he didnt mind if McEnroe worked his TV job while he was on court playing.ddddddddddddIt doesnt really make a difference by any means, Raonic said.Raonics other coaches are former No. 1 and 1998 French Open champion Carlos Moya, and Ricardo Piatti.Reynolds said there was no problem with having McEnroe working Sunday as long as the network is transparent with the viewers. But, he said, ESPN avoided any perception of a conflict by keeping McEnroe out of the box calling matches involving Raonic until now.We were sensitive to it because at the end of the day were trying to serve the audience, Reynolds said. Let the audience decide whether or not John is still John. I think thats a win, as long as everybody understands what voice hes bringing into the booth. When you get into this situation where we now have this one-and-done match, Reynolds said, hes an enhancement to that experience.
