One of the more enduring sets of data we can rely on for matchup purposes in the NBA is interior defense. Which is to say, the majority of teams that were poor in rim protection last season are again proving to be generous around the circle so far this year. The NBA tracks defensive allowance rates from all over the court, which can be helpful when were seeking to stream, build daily lineups, or choosing between close frontcourt calls in setting those lineups. Take a look at the 10-highest field goal allowance rates less than five feet from the basket this season. The league-average allowance from this range is 58 percent, so there are plus-matchup metrics on the interior when facing these teams, interestingly enough, made up almost exclusively of Western Conference clubs. Compare this group to last season, when the Lakers allowed opponents to shoot 63.3 percent from less than five feet, highest in the league. This suggests the Lakers will continue to be among the top interior matchups for frontcourt talents and drive-heavy guards. So, its no surprise to find them ranked?29th in defensive efficiency against opposing frontcourts this season, per Hoop Stats. The Timberwolves ranked 28th in defending this area of the floor last season, and are again third-worst in this space. The presence of Karl-Anthony Towns might create a reputation among fans that this team can protect the rim, but this information counters that premise. The Timberwolves are last in the league in defensive rating with an astoundingly generous 115.9 points yielded per 100 possessions over the past 10 games. We can confidently start our fantasy assets against Minnesota. The Kings were No. 26 in defending this interior space last season and rank just 24th this season, while the Pelicans were 29th last year and again return to the leagues bottom-third in paint protection. Keeping with this trend, the Wizards and Rockets also have been quite generous within five feet of the rim for consecutive seasons. Given that rim protection is dependent on personnel, as well as scheme, its reasonable to expect these teams will continue to struggle in defending this part of the floor. There is a seemingly helpful correlation in place for rebounding efficiency and rim protection, as the Mavericks, Kings, Pelicans, Lakers and Wizards all rate in the bottom-10 in rebounding percentage over the past 10 games. Leveraging this type of information when seeking differentiation for daily decisions can be essential to fantasy success.Fantasy Forecaster: Dec. 19-25The holiday weekend ahead makes for a somewhat unique schedule. The vast majority of teams are limited to three games, as the league takes Christmas Eve off, instead of going with the normally-full Saturday slate. This doesnt preclude some teams from earning favorable setups relative to the rest of the league, as marquee rosters in Cleveland and Golden State each enjoy inviting meetings with Brooklyn and its fantasy-friendly, pace-driven scheme. Then, of course, we are gifted the coveted Christmas matchup between the Warriors and Cavaliers on Sunday. The Thunder also enjoy a strong upcoming stretch, as they play four up-tempo opponents. Not that Russell Westbrook needs much matchup assistance to produce elite numbers, but it helps to note the Hawks and Timberwolves are both ranked in the bottom four in defensive efficiency against point guards this season. The 76ers face an ugly stretch with just two games, but at least they are against up-tempo and soft defensive opponents. The spacing of the two games also suggests we could see Joel Embiid suit up for both contests. Both the Raptors and Hornets also face two-game slates, so streaming from these rosters will prove challenging in leagues with transaction limits.Access the downloadable forecaster chart PDF hereMatchup ratings are based on a scale from 1 (poor matchup) to 10 (excellent matchup). These are calculated using a formula that evaluates the teams year-to-date and past 10 games statistics, their opponents numbers in those categories and their performance in home/road games depending on where the game is to be played. The column to the left lists the teams total number of games scheduled, as well as home games, and lists the overall rating from 1 to 10 for that teams weekly schedule.Positional targetsThe Nets and Nuggets are two teams we want to target for point guard play. We witnessed Damian Lillard going ballistic on Denver this past Thursday night, while the Nets lead the league in pace and have proven to be soft both on the glass and in defending the paint. Facing Philadelphia is also a plus-matchup for point guards, as the 76ers rank 25th in defensive efficiency. With Jerryd Bayless out for the season, facing an offensively gifted but defensively deficient Sergio Rodriguez is a great setup for lead guards. At the two, the Kings and Knicks rank 29th and 28th, respectively, in defensive efficiency against shooting guards. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, appear uniquely soft against shooting guards. The Clippers, with J.J. Redick netting heavy minutes, have been a solid matchup at the position for some time. In the frontcourt, the Blazers remain the best matchup in the league given their lack of size, while the Lakers, Mavericks, Nets and Wizards are all favorable setups.Tyler Johnson Jersey . The 52-year-old Spanish player was looking for a better Sunday afternoon result after he missed chances in his past two events.Jimenez put himself in position to break out of the title funk Saturday. He finished a 1-under 69 in gusty wind and sheets of rain to take a 1-stroke lead. He was in a lot better shape in Scotland and Minnesota in the past two tournaments -- and came up empty.Three weeks ago at Carnoustie in the Senior British Open, Jimenez took a 4-stroke lead into the last day, only to shoot 75 and tie for third -- 3 strokes behind winner Paul Broadhurst. Last week in the 3M Championship, Jimenez was a stroke ahead entering the final round and ended up losing when Joe Durant shot 63 and eagled the first hole of a playoff.Just keep playing golf and give myself patience. Thats the main thing, Jimenez said. Whatever happens happens. Obviously, at the Open in Scotland, I lost that tournament there without playing bad, and here tomorrow we have to play 18 holes, and whatever happens happens. Just keep focused and enjoy yourself. Thats the main thing.Jimenez won in March in Mississippi for his third career PGA Tour Champions victory. He has 15 regular European Tour victories, the most recent in the 2014 Spanish Open at a tour-record 50 years, 133 days. You look at my office, no? Its a great life, no? Thats what I want to do in my life is play golf. I will do what I want to do in my life for a living, and golf is not my job. Its also my hobby. Of course, when I finish here, Im going to have a bbig, fat cigar with a nice glass of wine and enjoy my wife and my family and my people who are here.ddddddddddddJimenez had a 3-under 207 total on Jack Nicklaus boyhood course. Gene Sauers was second after a 71. Ian Woosnam (70), Loren Roberts (70) and senior newcomer Billy Mayfair (75) were tied for third at 1 over.Jimenez was one of just four players who were below par for the day. Three strokes behind Joey Sindelar entering the round, Jimenez had four birdies and three bogeys, with the three bogeys coming in a four-hole stretch. After he made two birdies on the front nine, he birdied the hole 12, bogeyed 13 and 14, birdied 15, bogeyed 16 and finished with two pars as sheets of driving rain rolled in on top of the suffocating heat and humidity that have worn players down all week. The conditions, they are tough today, especially because of the wind, Jimenez said. The greens were softer on the first two rounds, but its the gusting wind there that [makes it] not easy to choose the club, the right club. Sometimes it will go a place that you dont [want] to.Sauers battled the wind and had four birdies and five bogeys. The heat, the wind, the rain on the last hole -- it was a brutal day, said the 53-year-old Sauers, winless on the senior tour.Sindelar had a 77 to drop into a tie for sixth at 2 over.Golfs hard, the 58-year-old former Ohio State player said. U.S. Opens harder. And I thought, for the most part, I was pretty happy with the way I played. It wasnt horrible. Just a couple of uglies, and it played hard out there. Problem is, weve got a pretty good guy out there in the lead and a couple more really good ones right behind him.First-round leader Vijay Singh was 6 over. He followed his opening 66 with two 75s.
