West Indies T20I captain Carlos Brathwaite has urged newcomers Rovman Powell and Nicholas Pooran to play their natural game ahead of the three-match T20I series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. Both Powell and Pooran had promising performances in CPL 2016. Powell, the 23-year old batsman from Jamaica, scored 228 runs in 13 matches for Tallawahs. Pooran, the 20-year old wicketkeeper-batsman from Trinidad, played for the Barbados Tridents and belted 217 runs in 10 matches at 27.12 and a strike rate of 197.27. Pooran also effected eight dismissals behind the stumps.Go there, express yourselves, continue to be exciting and eventually win games for the West Indies. Its a big task to represent the West Indies, and away from home is probably a little easier because you dont have family in the stands with that extra pressure, Brathwaite advised. Youre just surrounded by your team-mates and its a good team to be in at the moment, so its just about going there and continuing to do the things that they did to get themselves here and do it for longer periods - its a higher stage, more pressure, but Im sure they can continue with it and do well.Brathwaite also credited the selectors for ensuring that youngsters got the best exposure possible. The selectors were very big in ensuring that some young players are blooded and rubbed shoulders with some of the best T20 players in the world so we can continue our legacy of being dominant in this format, and those were two of the guys who fit the bill at this point in time, he said.West Indies were in Dubai earlier this year when they held a preparatory camp ahead of the 2016 World T20, which they went on to win, so while they might know a bit about what to expect from the surfaces, Brathwaite acknowledged that the weather at this time of the year was a lot harsher. It wasnt as hot early in the year, but, apparently, were smack dab in the middle of their summer, so it can get very, very hot, he said. Its for the players to prepare well, manage themselves well off the field, rehydration-wise, get enough rest, and each and every one of us is a professional and we know what our body needs to be an optimal thing to perform, so its just about us doing things we do off the field, planning well, preparing well, and evidently performing well when the games come. The first T20I will take place in Dubai on September 23. The T20Is will be followed by a three-match ODI series, before the tour concludes with three Tests. This is the first series for West Indies after the WICB sacked coach Phil Simmons earlier this week. The team will be under the supervision of former West Indies fast bowler Joel Garner for this tour, along with assistant coaches Henderson Springer and Roddy Estwick. Kevin Durant Shoes For Sale . CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Joel Berry II knows what awaits him this year at North Carolina.Hes coming off a big year in which his offensive output and floor game blossomed for a team that won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship and played for the NCAA title. And with four-year starter Marcus Paige gone, Berry enters his junior season looking like the top candidate to take Paiges role as the guy to entrust with a taking a big shot. Its something thats just a part of the game and just part of being here at this school, Berry said Tuesday during UNCs preseason media day. Theres times where its going to be on you to make a big shot. Im going to just try to approach it like I did last year: Im not going to try to force anything. If the ball is in my hand and I have the open shot, Im going to take it. But other than that, Im going to just try to do what I can to lead this team to victory and do whatever it takes.Berry was the Tar Heels No. 2 scorer last year (12.8 points) behind Associated Press All-American Brice Johnson inside. He was also the teams best outside shooter (38 percent from 3-point range) and played the point, leading the team in assists and steals as well as in free-throw percentage (86.7).But he had Paige roaming the backcourt alongside him and Johnson in the post all that time. The difference is now Berry will likely be at or near the top of every defensive scouting report, one of three returning starters from a team that reached the programs first Final Four since 2009.As Hall of Fame coach Roy Williams put it: Nobody left Marcus Paige to go guard Joel last year.dddddddddddd.Still, the 6-foot native of Apopka, Florida and a former McDonalds All-American, has been reliable in big moments -- especially when it comes to providing toughness and a competitive edge to UNCs perimeter play.He hit a critical 3-pointer with 3:06 left in a November comeback against Kansas State after managing just one shot the entire game. He shook off another frustrating game by taking over in the final 5 minutes of a league win against Georgia Tech. After shaky performances in losses to Louisville and Duke, Berry scored in double figures in 13 of the last 14 games, the exception being a 10-assist, 1-turnover game against Syracuse in the Final Four.Along the way, he was named MVP of the Tar Heels run to the first ACC Tournament title and scored 20 points -- including making all four of his 3-point tries -- in the loss to Villanova in the NCAA final. The burden on Berry to keep it going will only grow once the Tar Heels tip off the season Nov. 11 at Tulane.Whenever he competes, thats whenever hes at his best, fellow junior Justin Jackson said. What he did last year was great, we just need him to keep that going through this year.---Follow Aaron Beard on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/aaronbeardap and the APs college basketball site at http://collegebasketball.ap.org ' ' '
