TOKYO -- Japanese automaker Honda is returning to Formula One in 2015 as an engine supplier to McLaren, recreating a partnership that was dominant in the 1980s and 1990s. Honda president Takanobu Ito announced the decision at a news conference in Tokyo on Thursday, reversing the decision made in 2008 to pull out of the expensive sport due to the effects of the global financial crisis. F1 is changing to six-cylinder turbo engines next year, making the comeback decision easier because Honda will be able transfer the technology to its commercial vehicles. "Honda has a long history of advancing our technologies and nurturing our people by participating in the worlds most prestigious automobile racing series," Ito said. "The new F1 regulations with their significant environmental focus will inspire even greater development of our own advanced technologies and this is central to our participation in F1." Honda was an entrant, constructor and engine supplier in F1 between 1964 and 2008. Rival Japanese manufacturer Toyota pulled out in 2009. Honda Motor Corp.s sales have risen amid improving economic conditions in Japan and overseas. The company has also benefited from a weakening yen, as it raises the value of overseas earnings and helps decrease selling prices abroad. The tie-up renews an association that became one of the most successful and powerful in F1 history during the 1980s and 90s with Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost at the wheel. Between 1988 and 92 McLaren and Honda won eight world championships and 44 Grand Prix races, took pole position 53 times and set 30 fastest laps - all in just 80 Grands Prix. "Its fantastic news for everyone who loves F1 to be able to welcome Honda back to F1," McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh said in a statement. "Together, were about to embark on a new and extremely exciting chapter in McLarens history. Like McLaren, Honda is a company with motor racing woven into the fabric of its heritage. Were proud and thrilled to be joining forces once more to take on the world in F1."Jon Merrill Jersey . The losing streak was the Heats longest since 2008.Washington (3-8) nearly had its own blowout, but still won comfortably over New York. One of those missed game included a loss to a 1-win and short-handed Philadelphia 76ers team Wednesday night. We were hungry for a win, Beal said. We knew this was a tough team with a bunch of scorers. Our biggest thing was to make sure that we were defending and just control what we control and get back to having fun, get back to playing for one another and do whatever it takes to win. We did a great job of keeping up that pressure. They needed that large marrgin because New York scored 47 points in the fourth quarter, but never could pull closer than seven points.ddddddddddddThe late fade forced coached Scott Brooks to put his starters back into the game, but didnt damper his enthusiasm for his teams effort and the much needed win. That is the message I have been talking about, Brooks said. We have to play for 48 minutes but I thought we played a great basketball game coming back from a tough loss last night. Guys really competed. We moved the ball. Having Brad out there, we are a different team for the obvious reasons.Having an interior force like Whiteside gives the Heat a different component than most teams.Anytime I see a team that likes to score in the paint, my eyes light up, said Whiteside, who also had 12 points and 17 rebounds.Miamis bench helped fuel the win which came despite trailing 20-6. James Johnson and Tyler Johnson combined for 17 points, 18 rebounds and eight assists.Thats what were supposed to do, James Johnson told the Miami Herald. Thats what the reserves are for -- bring energy, sustain the lead or come back from any deficit. I think we did our job today.Washingtons bench play has been a major source of the early-season struggles, though Marcus Thornton scored 13 points against the Knicks. ' ' '
