Professional skateboarder Dylan Rieder, 28, died of complications of leukemia on Wednesday. Mike Regan of GP Sports Management, a representative for his family, issued a statement celebrating Rieders life and memory.Today, October 12, 2016, surrounded by family and friends, Dylan Joseph Rieder passed away due to complications with leukemia, read the statement. His passion for life, art, music, fashion and skateboarding has always been contagious. Dylan will be remembered by all as a loving son, brother and friend.Rieder was being treated by Dr. Stephen J. Forman, a leading expert in the field of hematology and oncology, at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center in Duarte, California.Rieder made an early splash in his contest career, winning the 2001 Damn Am contest in Costa Mesa, California, when he was just 13 years old. He followed it up with wins at the 2004 Damn Am Costa Mesa and 2005 Damn Am Minneapolis events, and turned pro with Alien Workshop in 2007 after releasing an acclaimed part in the 2006 Transworld Skateboarding video A Time to Shine. Rieder, best known for his parts in films like the 2009 Alien Workshop project Mind Field, also participated in the X Games Real Street video contest in 2011 and competed in Skateboard Street at X Games in 2012 and 2013.
