Sharapova had no such out. She held her tongue during all the back-and-forth as her appeal waited to be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. When her recommended two-year ban by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) was reduced to 15 months by CAS, Sharapova bitterly blasted tennis officials for the heavy price she paid.
