Robert Thornton believes his struggling rivals will be feeling all the pressure on Judgement Night in the Premier League. The Scot sits just above the bottom placed duo of Dave Chisnall and Michael Smith ahead of tonights matches, live on Sky Sports, and two from the trio will be eliminated at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.Thornton moved off the foot of the table last week as he claimed a win over Smith and then a battling draw with Michael van Gerwen. Smith and Chisnall are both a point adrift of Thornton, who could be safe by the time he faces Adrian Lewis, if neither man can pick up the necessary results. I can just go up and enjoy myself and Ill give it everything. Robert Thornton I know its in my hands and theres more pressure on the other two players than me, said Thornton. I can just go up and enjoy myself and Ill give it everything. My confidence is quite high now. Im playing with new darts, with longer points and better grip, and starting to get used to them and Im really looking forward to this week.I wont give in and if I can go up and perform the way I played last week, or even slightly better, then even if I lose I can go out with my head held high. Michael Smith needs to produce an upset result against Phil Taylor Smiths leg difference means he desperately needs a win from his match with Phil Taylor to give himself a real chance of survival. All I can do is focus on myself and on playing as well as I can against Phil because if I lose then Im out anyway, he said. Ill give it my best shot and do everything I can to get the win.Even if I get knocked out I want to end on a high. Its been a great couple of months and Im really enjoying the Premier League, so hopefully I can survive on Thursday. Dave Chisnall has joined Smith in the bottom two Chisnall takes on Peter Wright and fully admits that his own wasteful finishing has left him in this precarious position.Ive been starting off alright but Ive missed too many doubles and thats been the story of my season, said Chisnall. Its been frustrating and Ive had too many slack darts. Its all about timing and Im getting it wrong - Im not finishing the chances Im getting. Its fine margins and on another night the doubles might go in, but its my own fault. I put myself in this place so I have to dig it out. With Premier League Judgement Night looming, heres a look at what happened at this stage in 2015 Ive got a good record against Peter but if I keep missing doubles then Im not going to win games, so well see what happens. Ive been in this situation before and come through, so hopefully the result will go my way.Watch all of the Premier League action on Judgement Night, with live coverage starting at 7pm on Sky Sports 1. SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly calls the repeated blunders the Fighting Irish keep making on special teams head scratchers.Thats the polite way of phrasing it.The miscues have played a major role in why the Fighting Irish (3-5) have struggled. A blocked punt was the only touchdown scored in a 10-3 loss at North Carolina State. The Irish were leading 20-0 against Miami on Saturday when the Hurricanes recovered a bouncing punt that ricocheted off Tony Pride Jr., igniting a 27-0 run that included an onside kick, a partially blocked punt and a muffed punt that Miami recovered in in the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown before the Irish rallied to win .Another bouncing punt against Michigan State ricocheted off Miles Boykin, sparking a 36-0 run by the Spartans in a 36-28 loss for the Irish -- a game in which a 100-yard return by C.J. Sanders on the opening kickoff was called back because of a holding call. A 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Duke changed the momentum after the Irish jumped ahead 14-0, leading to a 38-35 victory by the Blue Devils. Then there was a 74-yard punt return by Syracuse in which a player thought a fair catch had been signaled, a 24-yard punt by Tyler Newsome that set up a Texas touchdown and too many men on the field for a punt against Nevada.Kelly said Tuesday part of the problem is the Irish have been playing a lot of young players. But he said coaches should be able to get them to play at the highest level. But weve had some lapses, he saidd.dddddddddddd Weve had some things that you would scratch your head. Nothing systemic in terms of schemes or players as much as these are head scratchers. So, yeah, were taking our lumps right now. But weve got to keep coaching them, and I think be even more clear when we go over the onside kick situation, where we didnt attack the football. We work on it. We didnt work on it enough, obviously. What makes the problem even more puzzling: Coaches are spending more time this season teaching special teams. Kelly also in the spring brought in special teams analyst Marty Biagi, a former punter and kicker at Marshall.Kelly is considering making a change in punt returners after Sanders failed to run up and make the catch on the ball that bounced off Pride and then mistakenly tried to catch a bouncing punt at the 5-yard line instead of letting it roll into the end zone. Sanders and Chris Finke will compete for the position this week, Kelly said.Kelly said the good news this week is when they face Navy (5-2) in Jacksonville, Florida, is that the Midshipmen dont punt often. Theyve punted the ball 22 times this season, compared to 41 for Notre Dame.So theres a breather there. So there are some things that we can really be focused on in terms of where we want to get better this week, he said. This is a probably get back to fundamentals week for us relative to special teams. ' ' '
